At the invitation of the Zambia Institute of Architecture (ZIA), the Slovenian Business Club participated in a business conference that took place from 12 to 13 November 2025 in Livingstone, where leading representatives of architecture, urban planning, infrastructure and engineering from all over Zambia gathered.
The event, which traditionally brings together key decision-makers and the professional public, once again highlighted the most important challenges in the development of modern and functional Zambian cities this year.
Conference highlights
Discussions focused on the structural challenges Zambia faces in urban planning, technical standards, engineering supervision and the need to introduce sustainable and locally adapted solutions. Participants highlighted the impact of urban sprawl, the need for professional guidelines and the importance of professional associations in improving the quality of construction and design.
Presentation of the Slovenian economy
As representatives of the Slovenian economy, we presented a wide range of Slovenian competencies in the field of engineering, sustainable technologies, construction equipment and infrastructure development at the conference. Participation was an important opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation, as Slovenia played a strong role in the development of engineering, energy and construction projects in Zambia during the former Yugoslavia. Many Zambian experts and institutions still remember this well, which further opens the door to new forms of partnerships.
B2B meetings and business opportunities
During the event, we held several B2B meetings with architectural offices, engineering contractors and public institutions. These discussions enabled the identification of concrete opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure, energy and development projects, where Slovenian companies can offer advanced, proven and high-quality solutions.
Promotion of Slovenia
The presence of the Slovenian Business Club at the event represented an important promotion of Slovenia. The event enabled the increase in the visibility of the Slovenian economy and confirmed that Slovenia still has significant potential for cooperation in the development of Zambian infrastructure, engineering and technological solutions.
