Serbian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturer FPM Agromehanika Plans to Open a Factory in Zambia
Serbian business news outlet Biznis.rs reports that FPM Agromehanika, an agricultural machinery manufacturer based in Boljevac, Serbia, is planning to establish a production facility in Zambia, marking another step in the company’s expansion into African markets.
According to the report, the new factory will be dedicated to the assembly and production of agricultural machinery for the Zambian market as well as the wider Southern and Central African region. The project also includes technology transfer, the training of local personnel, and the strengthening of local manufacturing capabilities.
In recent years, Zambia has placed increasing emphasis on agricultural development, improving productivity, and attracting foreign investment into its agro-industrial sector. With its extensive arable land, favourable climatic conditions, and growing demand for modern agricultural machinery, the country is widely regarded as one of the most promising agricultural markets in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The planned investment reflects the growing interest among European manufacturers in establishing local production facilities and distribution hubs in Zambia. At the same time, it is expected to create new business opportunities for companies involved in the supply of components, spare parts, irrigation systems, maintenance and servicing, agricultural machinery, logistics, and technical training.
For Slovenian companies, the development of industrial projects of this kind in Zambia is an important indicator of the country’s increasing attractiveness as a regional business hub and a potential gateway for expanding operations across Southern Africa.
